Nuisance Youths 03/05/2009
HANDLEYS LN. A group of approximately 5 male youths were reported to have been playing on the Beacon Hill sports assoc field. Reported to have looked suspicious.
RTC 06/05/2009
WITHAM RD. One vehicle had left the road and collided with a lamp post. No injuries, damage only to vehicle, lamp post and minor damage to a nearby house.
Abandoned Vehicle 13/05/2009
BYRON DR. One vehicle left on the road overnight opposite address preventing access to the highway from the premises.
Tree Down 14/05/2009
BLUE MILLS HILL. A small branch had fallen across the road causing a hazard for motorcyclists.
Criminal Damage 19/05/2009
WELLANDS. Persons unknown have caused damage to a front door to an address, suspected to have been kicked with force.
Faulty ATS 25/05/2009
MAYPOLE RD. Maypole road end traffic lights stopped working for a short peiod of time.
Burglary 27/05/2009
WITHAM RD. Persons unknown gained entry by force to property and removed personal belongings including keys to a 4x4 vehicle value of £60,000. Suspects made off in the vehicle.

Suspicious Circumstances 08/05/2009
PRINCE OF WALES RD. Male aged approximately in his thirties knocked the door of premises claiming to be from EDF energy. When male was refused entry to read the meter he became aggressive. The male left in a Black Ford KA, no other details known. Later confirmed that the male had nothing to do with EDF and was a hoax caller.

MALDON RD. Two horses were reported to have been seen loose on the road causing alarm to other road users. Horses later returned safely to the owner.
Driving Complaint 14/05/2009
MALDON RD. Reported by a female that whilst driving along the Maldon rd a vehicle sped up very close to her rear bumper. Vehicles stopped and a slight altercation occurred. Offending driver sped off after being abusive to the informant.
Burglary 18/05/2009
BROAD STREET GREEN RD. Suspects unknown have gained entry to property by force and ransacked the premises. Informant was unsure if anything had been stolen as he believed he may have caught them in the act and scared them off.
Fly-tipping 21/05/2009
CHURCH RD. Between the times of 1300 and 1700 suspects unknown had dumped old vehicle parts and metal off the roadside down a track. Local council were called.
Criminal Damage 27/05/2009
SCHOOL RD. Persons unknown, suspected to be local youths have removed front garden solar lights. They have also snapped off the Ariel of the owner’s car. Noticed too, that similar offences had occurred down the road to other vehicles.

CAPTAINS WOOD RD. Reported that 31 chickens have been stolen from a secure compound, electrical fence surrounding. Approx value of chickens at £250.

BEADLE PL. Persons unknown have removed hanging baskets from an address and caused damage to them dragging them down the road.

RTC 18/05/2009
THE STREET. A lorry has collided with a wall of a premises causing considerable damage. Vehicle failed to stop for the collision. Police action not required as vehicle company was identified and damage caused was to go through insurance.
Fire 25/05/2009
SAWYERS RD. Reported that a vehicle was on fire. Upon police attendance it appeared that the fire was non suspicious and was due to an electrical fault.
A total of three calls were made to police from Little Totham.

Decamp 09/05/2009
BRAXTED PARK RD. One vehicle reported to have had an RTC and then the driver got out and made off. No trace after a large police area search was carried out of the driver. It was later reported that the vehicle had been stolen from Braintree.
Tree Down 12/05/2009
LEA LN. Braxted end of Lean Lane a tree has fallen and causing a complete block to the road. Highways agency attended and removed the tree.
Burglary 19/05/2009
BRAXTED PARK RD. A large amount of gardening equipment has been stolen amounting to a very large amount of money by suspects unknown.
A total of 8 calls were made to police from Great Braxted.

HATFIELD RD. Reported that an orange petrol powered cement mixer had been stolen from the driveway of address. Enquiries are ongoing.

BLUE MILLS HILL. One vehicle causing a dangerous obstruction to other road users approaching and leaving Wickham Bishops.

CHURCH RD. Reported that between the hours of 1100 and 1300 the nearside window of a vehicle was smashed by means unknown, no theft took place as a result.

WALDEN HOUSE RD. Two males, thought to be travellers approached the premises of Marvins Stables asking to buy scrap metal. When declined they turned aggressive and drove their vehicle, White Ford Transit at workers on the site.

PLAINS RD. The same vehicle as above, White Ford Transit van was seen in suspicious circumstances. Reported that they may have been sizing up the land.

STAPLERS HEATH. Reported that approximately a group of up to 15 youths were kicking a football in the road.

COLCHESTER RD. A work shop within a secure yard had been broken in to overnight. One item value of over £800 was stolen.

CAPTAINS WOOD RD. Between the hours of 2100 and 1100 persons unknown have removed three large fence panels.

Reported that sometime overnight persons unknown have siphoned off diesel from a vehicle. Approximately 200 litres of fuel has been taken.

BRAXTED PARK RD. Reported that an articulated lorry is stuck in the road. Upon police arrival the lorry had managed to get free and carry on its journey.

Burglary 02/03/2009
WITHAM RD. Attempted burglary. The front door of the premises had been forced open but no entry was gained and nothing was taken from the premises.
Broken down vehicle 03/03/2009
WICKHAM HALL LN. A driver of a broken down vehicle reported that they were causing an obstruction to the above road. A thorough scan of the area proved no trace of the vehicle or driver.
Theft 07/03/2009
MAYPOLE RD. Reported that between the hours of 23:45 and 06:00 of the 7th, 6 solar lights had been removed from the front garden of the address.
Driving complaint/Nuisance vehicle 14/03/2009
BEACON HILL. Reported by a driver that two males on a scooter styled bike were driving erratically causing other road users to swerve and use evasive action to prevent a collision.

WICKHAM HILL. Two vehicle RTC with injuries. Involving one car and one motorcycle. Motorcyclist sustained injuries also a broken leg

BEACON HILL. Reported that just prior to 07:00 a vehicle had collided with a telegraph pole and a private fence causing considerable damage to both. The offending vehicle failed to stop. Details of the offending vehicle were taken and passed to police.

CHURCH RD. Reported that a group of children were kicking a ball about and causing antisocial behaviour in the area. Upon police arrival there was no trace of the youths.

PRINCE OF WALES RD. Damage has been caused to a vehicle by paint being thrown over it and the tyres being let down whilst parked over night outside an address.

STAPLERS WK. Youths were reported to be causing antisocial behaviour by kicking a football against some ones property. Police spoke to the youths and gave words of advice.

STAPLERS CL. Unknown persons have damaged wooden fence panels, taking one down and breaking a second in half causing it to splinter badly.

CHURCH RD. Two vehicles were seen parked in a suspicious manner in a lay-by, upon police arrival it appeared that there was nothing untoward.
Theft of metal 10/03/2009
MALDON RD. Suspects unknown have removed 4 metres of lead flashing from the roof of an address in the above road.
Suspect on premises 12/03/2009
COLCHESTER RD. Reported that whilst dark approximately 21:15 a male was seen to be in the back garden of the address peering in through a back window. Nothing had been stolen from the garden and the suspect had made off upon police arrival.

STAPLERS WK. Reported a noise nuisance from a nearby address. Upon police arrival nothing appeared untoward/causing a nuisance.

COLCHESTER RD. Unknown vehicle has collided with a parked car which in turn has rolled into a second car causing damage. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision.

HERIOT WAY. Two flares were seen to be set off. Upon police arrival the flares had worn out and were recovered.

LEA LN. Unknown persons gained entry by force to an address, stole a large quantity of jewellery from upstairs rooms.

BRAXTED PARK RD. Overnight, a barn had been broken into where three large hot water cylinders had been removed. A padlock had been broken to gain access.

LEA LN. Suspects unknown have removed a small trailer by force whilst it was padlocked and chained to a tree.

WITHAM RD. Overnight a container had been broken into by force, suspects unknown have removed a large amount of electrical equipment. A second container was subject to the same crime.

LITTLE BRAXTED HALL. Suspects unknown have gained access by force to a barn and removed a quad bike amounting to £2000. Other farm equipment was left untouched within the barn.

LITTLE BRAXTED LN. Reported that a silver Ford Ranger pick up truck towing a caravan dumped a large amount of waste. Upon arrival of police there was no trace of the vehicle or dumped waste.

COLCHESTER RD. Reported that whilst dark approximately 21:15 a male was seen to be in the back garden of the address peering in through a back window. Nothing had been stolen from the garden and the suspect had made off upon police arrival.

LITTLE BRAXTED LN. Reported that a silver Ford Ranger pick up truck towing a caravan dumped a large amount of waste. Upon arrival of police there was no trace of the vehicle or dumped waste.

Tree Down 03/02/2009
WITHAM RD. A tree was reported to have fallen in the above road causing an obstruction. Council workers attended and removed the tree.

BEACON HILL. Due to weather conditions Beacon Hill suffered black ice causing two collisions involving cars. No injuries were sustained but bushes by the road side were damaged.

MAYPOLE RD. Four horses were seen loose in Wickham Bishops, from maypole rd, Holt drive, Great Totham rd. Horses were later secured in a garden and the owner came to collect.

Road Conditions 02/01/2009
MALDON RD. An overflowing septic tank caused both lanes of Maldon rd to be covered in ice causing a tremendous hazard to road users. Police were called to the scene to provide traffic control joined by the highways department to salt the road. The following day a private contractor dealt with the overflowing septic tank.
Hare Coursing 11/01/2009
HALL RD. Reported that 3 females and a dog were seen walking across a footpath off Hall rd claiming to be hare coursing. Upon police arrival there was no trace of any people or any hare coursing taking place.
Suspicious Persons 13/01/2009
SEAGERS RD. Reported that a male was seen acting suspiciously in an alleyway leading to the cricket pitch leading from Seagers. Male was wearing a dark Parkers jacket with the hood up over his head, no other descriptions were given and no trace of the male upon police arrival.
Nuisance Vehicle 16/01/2009
STAPLERS HEATH A young person was seen to be driving a moped at speed with no lights on and one flat tyre.
Suspicious Persons 17/01/2009
MALDON RD. Reported by an off duty police officer that a male was carrying unknown items in a wheel barrow in company with two other males also carrying unknown items. Police challenged the males and appeared to be local youths heading home after building a BMX track.
Burglary 18/01/2009
BROOK CLOSE. Unknown person gained entry to a premises without the use of force and have taken one laptop computer. A Ford Fiesta was seen to be driven suspiciously around the time of the burglary by a next door neighbour driven by a male with ginger hair.
Theft from Motor Vehicle (TFMV) 21/01/2009
ST PETERS WK. Passport Credit and debit card were taken from a car left possibly insecure as there were no signs of forced entry. Vehicle was parked on driveway of the address.

HARVEY RD. Reported a Mazda 4x4 was causing a nuisance being parked in the above road. An Officer attended and deemed the vehicle to be of no police interest.

BROAD STREET GREEN. Persons unknown have gained entry into an address without the use of force and have taken mainly jewellery and cash amounting to no more than £15.

PRINCE OF WALES RD. A charity box by Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust has been taken from The Prince of Wales pub by persons unknown. The charity box was full at the time of theft.

HALL RD. Reported that a small blue hatchback was racing up and down Hall rd wheel spinning and causing a general nuisance to other road users. No trace upon police arrival.

CAPTAINS WOOD RD. Located at the junction of Cptns Wd rd and Maypole rd a two vehicle RTC with one car causing a complete obstruction to the junction and debris spread across the rd. Minor injuries sustained by one party.

COLCHESTER RD. A vehicle over night has failed to stop after colliding wit a MPH sign and a bus stop post. No descriptions of car or any other details were able to be obtained as occurred over night.

LITTLE RENTERS FARM. A shed has been entered by force; two panels have been ripped off and two metal storage containers have been opened again by force and metal cabling taken and a workman’s drill. All amounting to well over £1000.

KELVEDON RD, ESSEX & SUFFOLK WATER SITE. Unknown persons have forced entry into the site and taken items from a metal container, unable to ascertain at this time what has been taken. One vehicle was seen to be driven off at speed from the site with the boot open and something hanging out. A Vauxhall Cavalier is a possible suspect car. Police conducted area searches of the district to no trace.

BRAXTED PARK RD. Reported that one car had skidded off the road due to ice. No injuries or damage caused to the vehicle.

BRAXTED PARK RD. One vehicle had struck a large Deer subsequently causing a partial obstruction to the road forcing some cars to dangerously swerve to avoid it.

Burglary 11/01/2009
KELVEDON RD, ESSEX & SUFFOLK WATER SITE. Unknown persons have forced entry into the site and taken items from a metal container, unable to ascertain at this time what has been taken. One vehicle was seen to be driven off at speed from the site with the boot open and something hanging out. A Vauxhall Cavalier is a possible suspect car. Police conducted area searches of the district to no trace.
3 calls were made to the police from Little Braxted during the month.

STATION RD. Two vehicle RTC with no injuries. One vehicle causing an obstruction to the road. One driver reported for careless driving.

WICKHAM HALL LN. Persons unknown have removed a canvas from a large tent erected in a field beside the road. The tent had been entered but unknown if anything else had been stolen.
Criminal Damage 16/01/2009
GRANGE RD. Reported that persons unknown have tried to gain entry by force into an address but unsuccessful as proved to hard to break through the double glazing of a window.
Burglary 17/01/2009
GT TOTHAM RD. Location given as the scout hut junction with Kelvedon rd. Persons unknown have gained entry by force into two large containers storing scouting equipment. Unknown at this time if anything has been stolen.
Burglary 22/01/2009
HOLT DR. Persons unknown have obtained entry into premises without the use of force and have taken valuable items, jewellery and a watch etc.
RTC 24/01/2009
LANGFORD RD. One vehicle RTC causing only damage to itself but causing and obstruction to the road and debris to be spread across the road.

Urgent Warning Burglaries
Dear All,
There have been a number of burglaries in the area, targeting things like jewellery and laptops. These appear to have been through insecure doors. However, it may be that the burglar(s) are using a special key to gain entry.
You can get locks for your laptops.
If you can. please double lock your doors.
Anything suspicious, please phone 999 if it's ongoing. Especially if you see someone fiddling with a key in a lock, and bashing it with a hammer or a screwdriver
