As most of you will have heard, I am leaving Essex Police to start a primary school teacher training course this September. Therefore this is my last crime report. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the last 3 years, I have been so lucky to have been given a 'patch' where everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. Coupled with the fact that I have probably had to herd as many animals as I've had to deal with fights, (!) I have been lucky to have had the time to become a member of your community. I have special thanks to the Neighbourhood Watch volunteers who have given their time to help raise awareness of what is going on in our villages. I still have panic alarms and post code marking pens available if anyone wants them. You will have a new community officer, Steve Butler, who some of you may have met patrolling with me over the last year. He knows the area well and is keen to use the speed camera in the villages. You can contact him on any of the above numbers.

Great Totham's new Local Beat Officer PC Pete Goodchild is currently in the process of setting up Farmwatch in our area. Acting as a Neighbourhood Watch for farms, it will hopefully increase communication between our farms, highlight crime issues and prevent future crimes. Since Neighbourhood Watch has been updated in Great Totham and Wickham Bishops, the police have had a lot more 'suspicious person/ vehicle' calls, which has helped deter crimes and increase our intelligence on our 'criminal fraternity'.

And finally, we are currently asking members of the public for their opinions on any issues in our villages, which will be forwarded to your local Neighbourhood Action Panel for consideration. Issues can be anything police related, council matters, highways issues, environmental health concerns or suchlike. If you are interested in highlighting a local issue, call me or Maldon Police Station. Alternatively, anonymous forms have been left with Great Totham Village Store, Wickham Bishops One Stop Store and Great Braxted Store.
